Do you ever feel completely cream-crackered and in the need of some time out, where you don’t need to think about anything else other than yourself?
It was this feeling that was the inspiration behind a “wellbeing retreat” that I organised for a small group of busy, professional women last month. The aim was to provide a week of fun activities, comfortable surroundings and great food, and to give everyone the chance to just stop and “be”. Everything was organised for them and there was no need to think about anything – apart from whether to get in the swimming pool or to carry on reading that book…
The retreat was hosted at Quirky Camping, a relaxing eco-resort that offers comfortable, fully-furnished yurts, and panoramic views of pantile-roofed farm houses and sunflower fields.
Over the course of the week, we meandered around some of France’s prettiest villages, explored three-million-year-old caves and rummaged among the racks of a vintage clothes shop. We tasted Merlot at an organic vineyard, drank sparkling crémant made by monks within the midst of 14th century cloisters, and climbed to the top of an ancient ruin to soak up the stunning vistas of Saint Emilion.
For those that wanted to, there was the option of running, walking, wild water swimming, canoeing, massage and hypnotherapy. And of course, there was lots of time to chill out, have a natter, or to do nothing at all.
“A wonderful week of culture, relaxation, great company, laughter and delicious home-cooked food. Bliss”
We even managed to squeeze in a fabulous photo shoot at an 18th century chateau, hosted by the talented Rachel Evans. She made us all feel wonderful as we donned outfits and strutted our stuff in the great hall.
We wined, we dined, we laughed. Most importantly of all, we relaxed and gave our bodies and minds the opportunity to rest and recharge. Bliss.
A similar retreat is currently being planned for 2019. Prices start from £745 for a week. More details to be announced shortly. To register your interest, please email Becky at firstname.lastname@example.org
