If furniture could talk, we reckon this cabinet would have some stories to tell.
This beautiful old cabinet is as old as the gite itself, according to its former owner, and would have been privy to all the births, deaths and marriages that have taken place here over the last 200-odd years.
This evening it was treated for wood worm, which have been feasting on its doors and drawers, leaving tiny holes in their wake. Then, once the skirting boards in the lounge have dried (another task completed these evening) it will be moved into the corner of the room next to the fireplace – a fantastic feature that will add much to the character of the lounge.
Still no furniture, cooker or fridge. But the most important ‘delivery’ of all did arrive today – Dennis, who had spent the last two days riding back from the UK on his motorbike. So pleased to have him home – and not just so that he can get the gite kitchen finished! 😉
